What we do
Santa Barbara County's Redevelopment Agency oversees the investment of public funds for residential and commercial redevelopment activities in the Isla Vista community of the County. Community development activities include economic development, provision of affordable housing and neighborhood improvements such as streets, sidewalks, parks, and community centers. We also take on special projects and administer federal funds for a variety of community service programs. Our team works with the community to create better places to live and work.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of principles, purposes and laws governing redevelopment, community building and design, urban and regional planning, and environmental review; marketing and business attraction strategies; principles and practices of local and regional economic development and economic development financing.
Ability to administer with little or no supervision all aspects of redevelopment program, including initiation of procedural steps necessary to implement policy decisions from Executive Committee. Collect, analyze and interpret a variety of data and information involving redevelopment projects. Prepare accurate and concise reports. Establish effective working relationships with the public, other governmental agencies and professional colleagues. Write and speak clearly and effectively.
Qualifications
Any combination of education and work experience which clearly demonstrates possession of the listed knowledge and abilities. Normally, academic course work equivalent to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major work business or public administration, economics, urban and regional planning, or a related field, plus two or more years of progressively responsible Redevelopment Agency experience.
Additional Qualifications
Knowledge of real estate transactions, real estate finance, and CEQA.
