Senior Transportation Planner

Recognizing that new freeways or fixed-rail transit services are only part of a congestion management program, the 2030 Regional Transportation Plan emphasizes Transportation Demand Management (TDM) strategies. Through better management of travel demand, we can relieve some of the pressure on the regional transportation system and improve its efficiency by shifting demand to times or modes that have excess capacity.

The Senior Transportation Planner will provide leadership for a team of highly talented professionals who develop, implement, and conduct outreach for the region’s Transportation Demand Management (TDM) program known as iCommute. This position also will manage technical analyses, planning studies, and the implementation of projects related to demand management and traveler information systems.

This opportunity is for a ‘hands-on’ working manager; someone who has both the skill to perform many of the technical requirements of the position as well as provide leadership and oversight for the entire team.

Qualifications: A bachelor’s degree with major course work in regional or transportation planning, engineering, public/business administration, or a related field, and a minimum of five years of increasingly responsible, professional project management experience in regional transportation planning or transportation operations. An advanced degree is highly desirable.
