Basic Qualifications:
Must have experience analyzing community data including experience compiling and tracking information and reporting results.
Core Competencies:
- Bachelors degree in Urban & Regional Planning or a related technical or environmental field; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Typically possesses four or more years experience conducting community, demographic, and aesthetic analyses and providing expert recommendations based on community planning.
- Demonstrated experience serving as a subject matter expert on infrastructure project teams
- Demonstrated experience as a team member, working with others on inter-disciplinary issues; developing project scope and schedules; developing improved internal policies and procedures, and adapting to project changes.
- Demonstrated experience coordinating project teams, including experience facilitating team meetings.
- Demonstrated experience developing presentations, training materials, and technical reports/publications related to environmental programs.
- Demonstrated experience applying CEQA guidelines.
- Demonstrated customer service experience including interfacing with nonprofit, environmental, regulatory, public policy, and/or governmental organizations.
- Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, MS Project, as well as GIS.
- Must demonstrate excellent business mastery, including the ability to integrate work across relevant areas, develop the business and services to enhance customer satisfaction and productivity, manage risks and safety appropriately, develop and execute business plans, manage information, and provide exceptional service to internal and external customers.

Preferences:
Master's degree in Urban & Regional Planning or a related technical or environmental field; Demonstrated experience with infrastructure planning; Demonstrated utility experience; Demonstrated knowledge of SCE polices and practices; Demonstrated experience with decision support systems.
Typical Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will conduct community, demographic, and aesthetic analyses as a subject matter expert for SCE's Corporate Environmental Health & Safety (CEH&S) Division. This subject matter expert will also coordinate the siting phase of planning for new electrical infrastructure. Typical duties for this position include: managing databases for facility study areas; identifying areas of opportunities and constraints and evaluating alternative locations for substations and power lines; reviewing environmental assessments prepared by consultants; evaluating internal policies and procedures and researching issues that are important across all projects and the electric utility industry as a whole; managing consultants, internal budgets, and GIS support staff; coordinating schedules and plans; collecting data from subject matter experts by reviewing maps and participating in site visits; facilitating team meetings; consulting with internal organizations by providing references, policy and procedure guidance, analytical approaches, and research ideas; providing input for staff presentations that will be delivered to managers; delivering SCE presentations to external utility and community planning forums; and performing additional duties as assigned.
